2011 / Machinima
Video installation created with scenarios from different video games and fragments of Cory Arcangel’s work Naptime.
It begins from the idea that the subconscious causes perception—and dreams themselves—to always be different.
The piece intertwines multiple stories presented in random and chaotic order, blending with dreamlike scenes that emerge from a Super Mario dream.
In it, the character hallucinates within the saturated world of contemporary video game culture, employed here as a trope of reality.
The work functions as both a reminiscence of and commentary on Arcangel’s practice around Super Mario as a generational emblem.
