2008–2014 / Photography / Variable dimensions

Part of my practice is rooted in the culture of video games and their relationship with people, reality, and art.

I use artistic processes to interact with this new aesthetic and experiential dimension, situating myself within the reciprocity that exists between the perception of reality and perceptive reality itself.

The work consists of a series of digital captures from video games depicting contemporary wars.

As in Viaje a Europa del Este, I adopt the stance of a photojournalist, developing a documentary practice comparable to that of soldiers who record images during their service.

Shoot in War is grounded in a virtual experience that I later shared with real war veterans by uploading the photographs to an online forum.

My ultimate goal is to “equate” this virtual experience with the real one, establishing a connection with the fact that I was playing, almost simultaneously, the same war they were living or had lived.

A final stage of the piece consisted of downloading documentary footage made by soldiers during campaigns from YouTube and other platforms, replacing it with similar reconstructions created in video games, and uploading it back to the web.
